The Netherlands sends Reapers to Romania

The Netherlands will deploy General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc.

(GA-ASI) MQ-9A Reaper unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to Romania to help strengthen NATO's eastern flank.

Announced on the 12th of May. The Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) has announced that it will move its experimental Reaper from the Dutch island of Curaçao in the Caribbean.

It is unclear how many aircraft have been received so far, but disassembly and transportation are expected to begin in the week beginning January 15th.

"We are currently moving to Romania,  where we will contribute to NATO's mission to ensure the security of Europe," RNLAF said.

The Reaper is operated by his 306 Squadron from Leeuwarden Air Base in the Netherlands and flies from Campia Turgi Air Base in central Romania.

The RNLAF plans to arm the 10 Reapers it has ordered, but the aircraft deployed to Romania will fly in an unarmed configuration.
